The county, like many other counties, is facing increasing costs for the maintenance of gravel roads, from grading, to availability of good aggregate materials to rising maintenance costs. In 1999, BASE ONE® was incorporated into 3″ of new aggregate surfacing material on a one mile section of the road. The county was able to omit four 2″ regravel cycles (1999-2011). This saved the county $45,000 on aggregate material. In 2012, 2″ of new aggregate was added and stabilized with BASE ONE®.
